Job Summary
Mid-Level Propulsion/Fluid Controls Engineer role owning valve component design from concept through qualification, coordinating cross-functional development activities, and mentoring junior engineers to prepare for a project-management career track. Responsibilities include owning valve designs (solenoid, pneumatic, check, cryogenic valves, and pressurized fluid systems), applying propulsion fundamentals, overseeing testing, and ensuring safety, reliability, and manufacturability. Lead cross-team integration, manage timelines and risks, present design status updates, collaborate with suppliers, and support design-to-production transitions. Mentorship of junior engineers and pursuit of process improvements for engine valves and related mechanisms are emphasized, with a strong focus on cross-functional leadership and producing manufacturable hardware using CAD/GD&T practices. Must be legally eligible to work in the U.S. and able to obtain required background and regulatory clearances.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. degree in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical, or Physics preferred)
- 5+ years of professional engineering experience with valves, fluid control systems, and/or mechanisms, including rocket or jet engine experience
- Demonstrated experience coordinating across multiple teams or stakeholders in a technical program or project setting
- Strong technical fundamentals in propulsion, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and structural analysis
- Strong knowledge of hardware design processes and fabrication techniques related to valves
- Experience examining and resolving non-conforming hardware
- Proficiency with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools
- Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5
- Familiarity with data analysis and data processing
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and coordination skills — essential for effective project management
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
- Export Control Regulations awareness/requirements
- Background checks and regulatory/compliance readiness
