Job Summary
The Propulsion Controls Engineer will be responsible for planning, developing, testing, and issuing propulsion controls software for Canoo vehicles. Key responsibilities include creating test plans for on-vehicle testing, supporting software review and development, evaluating calibration sets for propulsion software, and interfacing with cross-functional teams. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent, experience with MATLAB / Simulink for control development, on-vehicle testing, and knowledge of electric vehicle systems. Familiarity with software analysis tools and requirement management systems is also necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Experience using MATLAB / Simulink / Stateflow for control algorithm development.
- Experience with on-vehicle testing of propulsion systems
- Experience with software documentation / calibration guides for propulsion software.
- Electric vehicle systems knowledge: High voltage Battery, Traction Inverter, Electric Motor
- Experience with in-vehicle data acquisition equipment: Vector, Intrepid, PCAN, or similar
- Experience with software analysis tools: Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, vsignalizer, CANape
- Experience with log file analysis and root case identification of software issues in vehicle
- Requirement management systems experience: Jama, Doors or Polarion
Desired Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in Control systems.
- Basic knowledge of communication interfaces like CAN, SPI, I2C
- Good trouble shooting skills and understanding at the system level (electrical propulsion system including gearing, powertrain controls and battery system).
- Experience with IDE tools like CCS or Eclipse, software management systems like GitHub, software versioning tools like Git, and familiarity with software validation and release process.
- Functional safety related qualifications (ISO26262) are a plus.
