Job Summary

Maintain and repair sanctuary trails, boardwalks, signage, picnic tables, and program spaces while performing daily general maintenance tasks including cleaning the nature center, public restrooms, and removing rubbish. Assist with landscaping duties such as gardening, weed whacking, invasive species control, and mowing, while working with the Property Manager to develop weekly work plans. Provide care for Sanctuary Animal Ambassadors by feeding them and cleaning their habitats. Support staff and volunteers, and maintain basic equipment including hand tools and power tools. This seasonal role begins in July 2026 and runs through September 2026 at Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary in Edgartown, MA.

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent reliability and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to perform physical work, sometimes outdoors under adverse conditions
  • Ability to walk over rough terrain for extended periods of time and lift and carry up to 40 lbs
  • Strong communication skills and ability to effectively interact with others
  • Competency with basic forms of technology including email, internet, and Microsoft Office Suite (Teams)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Completion of a driver record check
  • Successful completion of a CORI and SORI Background Check

Desired Qualifications

  • Carpentry skills
  • Tractor experience
  • Chainsaw training
  • Prior maintenance and/or construction experience
  • Prior landscaping experience
