Job Summary
Maintain accurate records for all state-owned property by receiving, tagging, and recording newly acquired assets in the management system. Conduct annual and cyclical physical inventories, verify asset locations, and reconcile discrepancies while resolving documentation issues. Prepare documentation for property transfers, surplus, disposals, and cannibalization, ensuring proper approvals and chain of custody. Coordinate with department managers regarding inventory activities, assist with warehouse storage and retrieval, and operate handheld scanners. Generate reports and maintain inventory spreadsheets as requested. Assist with preparation for State of Alabama property audits and internal audits. Work cooperatively as a member of the Finance and Administrative Services team, ensuring compliance with State of Alabama property management regulations and USSRC policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Must be able to successfully complete any required background screening
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to climb ladders or use step stools safely when necessary
- Must be able to frequently sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday
- Must be able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and reach while conducting inventories
- Must be able to operate office equipment including computers, printers, scanners, and barcode readers
- Must be able to read inventory labels, serial numbers, and computer screens
- Must be able to work independently while managing multiple priorities
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality
- Must be able to interpret policies and follow detailed procedures
- Must be able to demonstrate a willingness to learn new systems, procedures, and regulations
- Must be able to work cooperatively as a member of the Finance and Administrative Services team
- Must be able to exercise sound judgment while maintaining confidentiality
- Must be able to accept responsibility and accountability for assigned work
- Must be able to maintain organized work areas and accurate records
- Must be able to follow all Center policies, procedures, and safety requirements

Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field
- Experience maintaining accurate records and working with inventory management systems
- Experience using barcode or inventory tracking systems
- Experience working with State property procedures
- Experience with inventory management software, ERP systems, or asset management software
- Knowledge of inventory control principles and property accountability
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to accurately maintain records and documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic mathematical and analytical skills
- Ability to establish positive working relationships with employees across all departments
