Property/Casualty Claims Adjuster

Conduct investigations by contacting members and claimants, obtaining recorded or written statements, and determining the extent of damages. Evaluate property and casualty claims to ascertain coverage, liability, and appropriate municipal contacts. Negotiate settlements with members, claimants, or their legal representatives, ensure settlement documents are obtained, and issue settlement checks. Maintain proper reserves, recognize potential for litigation, and report claim problems to the supervisor. Perform TPA functions and provide services to members and TPA customers as needed. Research publications, media reports, and judicial opinions while attending continuing education courses.
