Property Appraiser II

Conduct responsible appraisal and assessment work by examining, verifying, and maintaining property assessment valuation data. Interview taxpayers, realtors, and contractors to gather information for appraisals, while compiling and analyzing data on construction costs, sale prices, and leases. Prepare and revise land value tax maps, calculate assessment values, and maintain property assessment records. Investigate and resolve taxpayer complaints, Board of Review petitions, and exemption requests, defending assessments at all appeal levels. Perform technical audits, develop revised appraisal procedures, and enter vacant or vandalized buildings to determine damage extent and remaining value. Requires a Michigan Certified Assessment Technician designation and valid operator license.
