Job Summary
Property Adjuster Specialist handles complex property insurance claims using a virtual-first approach with desk adjustments and occasional field inspections. Responsibilities include investigating and evaluating coverage, negotiating settlements within authority, managing subrogation when appropriate, coordinating with vendors and internal partners, maintaining thorough claim-file documentation, and leveraging estimating tools (Xactimate, ClaimXperience, XactAnalysis) and virtual inspection platforms. Role requires travel to inspect losses, supports CAT deployment when needed, and operates in the New York City area as a field-based position with potential on-call requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
- 2 years of relevant property claims adjusting experience of moderate complexity losses that includes writing estimates, involving dwelling and structural damages
- Advanced knowledge of estimating losses using Xactimate or similar tools and platforms
- Proficient knowledge of residential construction
- Proficient knowledge of property claims contracts and interpretation of case law and state laws and regulations
- Proficient negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills
- Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within 90 days and 3 attempts
- Ability to travel 50-75% of the year (local & non-local) and/or work catastrophe duty when needed
- Active Property & Casualty adjuster license
