Job Summary
Prompt Designer at NCS develops, tests, and refines prompts and AI interaction patterns for large language models to deliver accurate, safe outputs. You will design and maintain structured prompts, define outputs and constraints, apply best practices for context management and few-shot prompts, test prompt behavior to reduce hallucinations, create evaluation rubrics and human review workflows, implement PromptOps (versioning, documentation, release processes), monitor production performance (quality, safety, latency, cost), and collaborate with UX/Product and engineering to integrate prompts into applications with governance, security, and privacy in mind.
Required Qualifications
- Strong written communication
- Experience creating structured prompts and templates
- Ability to translate business needs into prompt requirements and documentation
- Working knowledge of GPT/LLMs and how they respond to instructions and context
- Understanding of hallucinations, bias, and failure modes
- Familiarity with prompting techniques (zero-shot/few-shot, chain-of-thought, tool calling)
- Ability to test prompts systematically and interpret outputs
- Comfort with iterative refinement and A/B-style comparisons
- Designing simple evaluation criteria and measuring improvements
- Experience with prompt versioning and documentation
- Understanding of monitoring for quality and safety in production
- Awareness of cost optimization levers (token usage, length constraints)
- Ability to design intuitive AI interactions
- Experience collaborating with product/UX to align AI behavior with user intent
- Understanding of governance, security, privacy, and safety standards
