Project Scientist - Environmental

Job Summary

Conduct Phase II/III field site investigations, supervise drilling subcontractors, and manage soil borings, well installations, and sampling for remediation projects including excavation, system installation, and UST removals. Log environmental data, analyze results, write technical reports, and handle Connecticut regulatory filings while managing field health and safety. Lead scheduling, budget tracking, and coordination with clients and stakeholders for Phase I through III environmental site assessments and remediation planning. Requires BS degree in environmental science or related field with 6+ years of experience, OSHA HAZWOPER certification, and ability to travel to remote locations. Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in conducting environmental site assessment investigations
  • BS Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, or related scientific or technical field
  • Experience in field sampling of environmental media (soil, water, air, waste)
  • Strong knowledge of Connecticut RBCRs (formerly CT RSRs), site characterization, and conceptual site modeling
  • Experience with Phase/Task level management of Phase I,II,III ESA, Remedial Planning, and Remediation, including scheduling, budget tracking, and coordination with subcontractors, client representatives, and stakeholders
  • Strong technical report writing skills with ability to draw conclusions and recommendations for next steps in achieving applicable site objectives and milestones
  • Ability to draft proposals that include technical scope and fees
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to access remote locations and sites for sampling
  • Ability to lift/carry field equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Flexibility to travel, when needed, to support regional office objectives and project needs

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity in AutoCad and/or GIS preferred
  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour Certification preferred
