Job Summary
Project Plant Lead Engineer will drive plant engineering and system design for HVDC/EHV substations, lead the assigned project engineers, coordinate with GSI global engineering and regions, develop basic diagrams and layouts, select equipment sizing and manage cost and schedule while ensuring adherence to IEEE/IEC codes, safety, and quality requirements. Responsibilities include preparing single-line diagrams, earthing, lighting, cable and battery sizing, transformer and switchgear understanding, interfacing with clients and vendors, reviewing vendor drawings, estimating BOQs, and leading design/gate reviews. Also responsible for project planning, cost estimation, change control, and delivering engineering deliverables on time, with willingness to travel across regions and adapt to renewable technology developments. Add-on competencies include HVDC/FACTS applications and proficiency with tools like CANECO, ETAP, and 3D design software; requires strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills and the ability to lead in unstructured environments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field
- Minimum of 12+ years of experience in EHV/ HV AIS & GIS Substation design
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Experience guiding and grooming teams
- Knowledge of IEEE/IEC standards and safety in design
