Job Summary
Project Operations Accountant provides accounting, analysis, and financial support to construction-project teams, serving as the liaison between Finance/Accounting and the project team. Responsibilities include reviewing contract requirements, budget allocations, payroll reporting (including certified payroll and minority participation reporting), maintaining project insurance, tracking subcontractor lien waivers, processing receivables/payables for cash flow and timely payments, preparing cost-plus and lump-sum billings, conducting project cost analyses, preparing monthly projections, reporting on labor costs (including union and prevailing wage considerations), assisting with audits, and supporting Procore system use and annual inventories. Requires construction accounting experience, strong Excel/ERP skills (Textura, Oracle), and effective communication to coordinate with project teams and auditors.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration, or equivalent years of experience
- Minimum 3 years accounting experience, preferably with construction accounting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with ERP accounting applications like Textura and Oracle
- Strong communication skills—written and verbal
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Experience supporting multiple team members on projects
- Knowledge of percentage of completion accounting and construction contracts
- Ability to work with Procore and project audits
- Ability to manage labor cost components including union agreements and prevailing wage
