Job Summary

Collaborate with Tribal governments and housing authorities to define project goals and prepare applications for affordable housing development under the Low Income Housing Tax Credit program. Manage client, investor, and stakeholder relations throughout the application and financial closing processes, including coordinating meetings, drafting documents, and conducting site visits. Research funding opportunities from State Housing Agencies, federal agencies, and the Federal Home Loan Bank system while developing expertise in Section 42 and NAHASDA. Independently manage assigned tasks, providing regular updates to the Director of Housing Development on project status and timelines. Present at conferences and before Tribal councils on funding opportunities and project development. Approximately 25% travel is expected for client visits and industry conferences.

Required Qualifications

  • Relevant degrees include, but are not limited to, Finance, Public Administration, Law, Business, History, and Planning

  • Experience leading the closing process between tribal developers, equity investors, attorneys, architects, and other stakeholders
  • Experience working closely with internal teams and external partners on rewarding, fast-paced, and challenging projects with strict deadlines
  • Experience collaborating with Tribal governments and Tribal housing authorities to define project goals
  • Experience preparing and submitting applications for affordable housing development
  • Experience managing client, investor, and other stakeholder relations throughout the application and financial closing processes
  • Experience coordinating meetings, drafting and collecting documents, and conducting site visits
  • Experience researching and identifying funding opportunities for housing clients, including LIHTC and other relevant programs offered by State Housing Agencies, federal agencies, and the Federal Home Loan Bank system
  • Developed expertise in Section 42 of the IRS code
  • Developed expertise in the Native American Housing Assistance and Self Determination Act (NAHASDA)
  • Experience collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality, professional deliverables are completed on time
  • Experience independently managing assigned tasks
  • Experience providing regular updates to the Director of Housing Development on project status, timelines, and deliverables
  • Experience preparing and submitting completed applications for final review and approval by the Director of Housing Development
  • Experience submitting applications to the allocating agency
  • Experience collaborating with Travois Architecture and Travois Asset Management
  • Experience achieving project milestones after financial closing including LIHTC and grant financial workbooks
  • Experience with grant disbursements
  • Experience developing relationships with existing and potential clients in assigned regions
  • Experience presenting at conferences and before Tribal councils and housing boards on funding opportunities and project development in Tribal communities
  • Experience with marketing trips
