Project Manager (Utilities)

Job Summary

Nexus Water Group seeks a Project Manager - Utilities based in Boone, NC (with some travel within service areas) to lead water and wastewater construction projects from initiation to closure. You will develop, coordinate, organize, and control project activities, track finances (forecasting, budgeting, actuals), manage vendor relationships, prepare reports for internal/external stakeholders, and ensure projects meet scope, quality, time, and budget constraints. Strong proficiency in project management methodologies, communication skills for stakeholders and the public, and experience with Microsoft Project and standard office software are required; a Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Management and a valid driver’s license are mandatory, with PMP/PE preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, and/or Project Management
  • Minimum 3 years engineering and/or Project Management experience (preferably water/wastewater)
  • Valid driver’s license

Desired Qualifications

  • MS or MBA preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)preferred
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook; ability to learn internal software programs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project and/or other project management software
  • Proficiency with project management methodologies
  • Ability to understand project management financial management
  • Ability to calculate basic mathematical equations.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings plans, specifications, and reports
  • Ability to read permitting documentation, commission reports, contracts and other technical information.
  • Ability to read and interpret soil and hydro-geological reports and maps.
  • Ability to prioritize work, including approvals, that will ensure the projects are managed to schedule
  • Ability to document, accurate information and provide reports.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
