Job Summary
Project Manager for structural steel erection projects, overseeing all phases from kickoff to closeout; review drawings and specifications for constructability and scope; develop and maintain project schedules; coordinate with engineers, detailers, fabricators, and field crews; oversee procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractors; track budgets, change orders, and profitability; conduct site visits for safety and quality control; lead client/GC/internal meetings; resolve RFIs and design conflicts; ensure OSHA compliance and safety policy adherence; maintain client relationships and manage expectations; prepare reports and financial updates for leadership.
Required Qualifications
- 3–8+ years of experience in structural steel erection, steel fabrication, or commercial construction
- Strong understanding of steel detailing, erection sequencing, and construction methods
- Experience reading and interpreting structural drawings and blueprints
- Proficiency with project management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc.)
- Knowledge of AISC standards and OSHA safety regulations
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Preferred Experience
- Background in steel erection contracting or structural steel fabrication shops
- Experience working with general contractors on commercial/industrial projects
- Familiarity with BIM coordination and 3D modeling workflows
- Field experience as a superintendent, estimator, or detailer is a plus
