Project Manager

Job Summary

Plan, organize, lead, and control assigned projects and staff to achieve outcomes within delegated authorities. Establish and control project business rhythm and governance, ensuring Thales project management methodology is used throughout the lifecycle. Develop robust schedules, manage cost and technical performance against baselines, and monitor Work Breakdown Structures, risk registers, and scope changes. Engage with stakeholders within the Thales matrix and customer community on the Arctic Offshore Patrol Ships and Joint Support Ships In-Service Support Program. Lead and motivate a cross-disciplinary integrated team, drive execution excellence, and support Project Management Office initiatives. Prepare Estimate to Complete reviews and embed a lessons learned culture. Hybrid schedule with three days in the office; 40 hours weekly.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, Business
  • Relevant proven experience
  • Certified Practicing Project Manager or equivalent (IPMA and/or PMP certification)
  • Demonstrated experience in the engineering or defence sector for at least 7 years
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing complex projects or work packages in a matrix organization
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and analytical abilities
  • A positive and energized attitude
  • Direct or indirect access to hardware, software or technical information controlled under the Canadian Export Control List and/or the US the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
  • Eligible or able to obtain authorization for such access
  • Eligibility to the Canadian Controlled Goods Program
  • Ability to obtain a Canadian NATO Secret clearance
  • Hybrid (Home/Office) – Required to be in office for an average of 3 days a week
  • Schedule: 40 hours per week
  • Travel: As required primarily within Canada

Desired Qualifications

  • A proven ability to lead and influence stakeholders at all levels within and across the organization
  • Strong commercial / contractual acumen
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Defence Sector
  • Experience across the Design, Delivery, and In-Service Support phases of a project lifecycle
  • Track record working in a complex, multidisciplinary, multi-site organizations
  • Expertise in managing change on complex Projects
  • Experience implementing continuous improvement within projects to improve delivery efficacy
  • Experience with digital automation, application integration, and enterprise solutions
  • Experience with cloud-based services and/or the transition of on-premises services to cloud based services
