Job Summary
Experienced Substation Project Manager responsible for leading the full lifecycle of electrical substation projects from planning through energization. Serves as primary client interface, coordinating cross-functional teams, contractors, and field operations to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget. Responsibilities include end-to-end project delivery (greenfield, brownfield, upgrades, expansions), developing and controlling schedules and budgets, managing contract terms and change management, leading kickoffs and reviews, coordinating with engineering on HV/MV equipment and protection and control, reviewing drawings and submittals, supporting equipment procurement, overseeing construction activities, coordinating subcontractors and commissioning teams, resolving RFIs and field issues, enforcing safety plans and standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E, NESC), ensuring regulatory compliance, preparing status reports for stakeholders, coordinating with utilities/AHJs/permitting agencies, tracking costs and productivity, managing change orders and closeout documentation, and traveling to site locations (approximately 25–50%). Education and experience requirements include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, at least 5 years in substation/T&D projects, PM tool proficiency, and PMP or equivalent certification preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing electrical substation or transmission and distribution (T&D) projects
- Strong understanding of substation construction, testing, and commissioning processes
- Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project, Primavera P6, Procore, or similar
- Willingness to travel to project sites (approximately 25–50% or more, depending on workload)
