Job Summary
Execute construction project management activities for the GO Expansion program, reviewing technical design documents for utilities, drainage, and structures while analyzing potential risks and developing mitigation strategies. Build project schedules, oversee procurement of materials and subcontractors, and establish and maintain the project budget through rigorous cost estimate reviews. Negotiate contracts, enforce change procedures, and chair project meetings to ensure accurate reporting and timely close-out activities. Manage client and vendor relationships while driving commercial acumen to protect profits and improve margins. Lead a multidisciplinary team delivering civil and track works across the Lakeshore, Stouffville, Kitchener, and Barrie lines.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in engineering, construction management or equivalent discipline
- 10+ years of active, relevant, and applicable experience in the civil construction industry, focusing on rail and infrastructural projects
- Proficient use of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access)
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for normal functions and special assignments
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Skilled at building positive working relationships with internal and external clients
- Good listening and communication skills
- Be a champion of inclusion and diversity
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge and/or experience of the rail and signalling is preferred
- Knowledge of various project delivery models, especially Progressive Design-Build (PDB), is an asset
- Experience in using scheduling and estimating software is preferred
