Job Summary
Project Manager (RCO) for the Office of Facilities Renewal Management at NRC. Lead development of project charters and management plans for scientific facilities/real property renewal, monitor budgets and schedules, ensure safety and compliance, prepare status reports, and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders to deliver complex infrastructure projects. Requires university degree in engineering or related field, strong PM knowledge, and ability to work in a matrix environment; English language required; Secret Clearance process in place; partial hybrid work arrangement possible in St. John’s, NL, Canada.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in engineering, project management, or related field
- Formal designation as Project Management Professional (PMP) could be considered an asset
- Recent and significant experience delivering complex scientific, institutional, industrial infrastructure or real property projects
- Experience identifying and reviewing site-specific hazards and safety plans; ensuring contractor adherence to safety standards
- Experience coordinating and providing oversight on multi-trade construction projects
- Experience defining construction sequencing, reviewing constructability, and providing recommendations
- Experience working collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams with varied stakeholders
- Recent and significant experience applying project management principles and best practices
- Assets: experience managing projects in a Research and Technology environment
- Experience in procurement within the Federal Government
- Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Act for construction projects
- Ability to create detailed project charters and management plans, budgets, risk management and reporting
Desired Qualifications
- PMP certification or willingness to be considered an asset
- University degree in engineering, project management, or related field
- Recent and significant experience managing delivery of complex scientific, institutional, industrial infrastructure, or real property projects
- Experience in coordinating multi-trade construction projects
- Experience defining construction sequencing, reviewing constructability, and providing recommendations
- Ability to create detailed project plans, manage budgets, timelines, risk, and stakeholder communications
- Strong knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act for construction projects
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams and with internal/external stakeholders
- Proficiency with project management software tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Primavera/Microsoft Project)
- Ability to obtain security clearance (Secret)
- Assets: procurement experience within the Federal Government
- Experience in a Research and Technology environment
- Ability to assess hazards and safety plans
- Strong communication and leadership capabilities
- Ability to develop project charters and management plans
- Experience in a government or defence-related context (Defence Industrial Strategy)
- English language proficiency
- Eligibility for relocation as determined by NRC policies
- Knowledge of risk management, budgeting, and reporting processes
- Experience in a public-sector procurement and contract management
- Eligibility for Canadian citizenship or permanent residency preferred
- Relocation support may be determined per NRC directives
