Job Summary
Dual-role Project Manager / Estimator for a growing light commercial and multifamily general contracting firm in Auburn, Alabama. Own the full project lifecycle from the first estimate through final closeout while also maintaining the estimating pipeline. On-site and office-based work with regular site visits; strong estimating instincts and ability to manage owners, architects, and subcontractors with professionalism. Responsibilities include reviewing plans/specifications for accurate estimates, soliciting and negotiating bids, preparing scopes and bid packages, taking-off quantities using Bluebeam or PlanSwift, developing schedules and budgets, coordinating with subs and field teams, maintaining files in Buildertrend or SharePoint, and providing owner-ready documents and status updates. Requires 5+ years in construction estimating and/or PM, proficiency with estimating software, and a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in construction estimating and/or project management
- Background in light commercial, multifamily, or tenant improvement work strongly preferred
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for site visits
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred — equivalent experience considered
- Proficiency in estimating software (Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar)
- Familiarity with project management platforms and Microsoft Office Suite
- Working knowledge of AIA contract documents, lien waiver processes, and construction accounting
- Self-starter with strong initiative — you don't wait to be told
- Clear communicator in writing and in person
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy across estimates, contracts, and schedules
- Collaborative and capable of working independently when needed
- Calm problem-solver who can think clearly under pressure
