Job Summary
Lead mine closure projects involving tailings, heap leach, and waste rock facility closure, including reclamation landform design, cover systems, and storm water management. Provide technical guidance on mine water balance modeling and design characterization studies for waste rock and tailings properties. Manage revegetation strategies, surface water control measures, and field-scale cover system trials while overseeing post-closure monitoring programs. Develop realistic budgets, scopes-of-work, and timelines; monitor labor and expense budgets weekly to address discrepancies. Establish communication protocols with internal and external stakeholders, track milestones, and initiate change orders for project deviations. Implement QA/QC procedures, ensure proper documentation, and provide training to project staff. Coordinate resource planning across departments and guide the development of technically sound deliverables.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., geosciences, mining, civil engineering)
- A minimum of 10 (ten) years of progressive experience in mine closure consulting
- Strong understanding of project and financial management capabilities
- Experience using ArcGIS software and Microsoft software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Ability to identify, manage, and communicate project risks and changes
- Capacity to produce and guide the development of technically sound deliverables
- Ability to develop and foster positive working relationships across teams and with clients
