Job Summary
Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects focused on HVAC design for commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential buildings. Develop and oversee system design, coordination, and execution while ensuring compliance with codes and client requirements. Manage timelines, budgets, and resources to deliver projects on schedule and within budget. Prepare technical documentation, including design drawings and specifications, and conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and resolve issues. Collaborate with electrical, plumbing, and structural disciplines to integrate systems seamlessly. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on load calculations, equipment selection, and energy efficiency solutions. Oversee cost estimates, bids, and proposals for new projects. Actively manage project risks and identify issues early to implement effective mitigation strategies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on HVAC design and systems
- Experience in managing large, complex projects in a consulting engineering environment
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in NJ
- Proven expertise in HVAC design, including knowledge of HVAC codes, standards, energy efficiency, and sustainability practices
- Advanced proficiency in HVAC design software such as Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, EnergyPlus, AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Project
Desired Qualifications
- LEED certification or similar sustainability credentials
- Experience with BIM
- PMP certification
- In-depth understanding of sustainable building practices and energy-efficient HVAC system design
- Experience with green building certifications (e.g., LEED, WELL, BREEAM)
