Job Summary
Review exhibit content and provide actionable edits rooted in community knowledge for BICR and FRRI interpretive deliverables. Document relevant community donations and cultural materials for potential inclusion in exhibits, coordinating with designated NPS units. Review existing oral histories for thematic relevancy, recruit additional community members for collection, and validate oral history records in collaboration with park staff. Interface with a community-based advisory committee and recommend local civil rights influencers to ensure interpretive products reflect diverse perspectives. Collaborate with NPS units and partners to align exhibit goals with established project scopes while supporting oral history research and collection. This 24-hour/week position offers $45/hour and requires a Master's degree in history or related fields with 15 years of exhibit planning experience.
Required Qualifications
- MA/MS Degree in History; Social Sciences; Community Engagement/Research; Exhibit Planning/Design; Museum/Cultural Studies; Heritage Studies
- minimum additional experience of 15 year(s) in Exhibit planning/design for museums or other cultural institutions
- Project management

- Broad knowledge of and considerable experience in the use of all interpretive and education media
- knowledge of the roles of exhibits, publications, audiovisuals, and digital interpretation (i.e., augmented reality, distance learning, etc.) in conveying park themes and stories to diverse audiences without impairing park resources
