Job Summary
Conduct enterprise-level project data and timeline management for NOAA's satellite planning and data management activities. Map key milestones to work breakdown structures using Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, and Jira to facilitate iteration in waterfall and Agile methodologies. Manage an overall schedule control board and coordinate science and technology planning for senior leadership. Illustrate progress to partners regarding satellite launches and bolster capabilities to demonstrate support for the broader U.S. satellite enterprise. Work with subject matter experts to visualize project information across the organization. This hybrid role in Silver Spring, MD, supports NOAA's software development efforts with a focus on cloud framework planning and on-prem integration.
Required Qualifications
- mid to senior level software development project management experience
- enthusiastic project manager
- expert in software planning tools
- experience with Microsoft Project
- experience with Smartsheet
- experience with Jira
- experience in the context of science and technology planning
- experience in the government sector
- Experience in both waterfall and Agile methodologies
- A Bachelor's degree with emphasis on science or technology management, software development, information technology or project management in general
- Five to ten years of software development or master scheduler project experience in support of senior leadership, preferably in the science, cloud migration, and government sectors
- ability to identify key milestones and map them to work breakdown structures
- manage an overall schedule control board
- help leaders to illustrate to partners that NOAA is tracking milestones related to satellite launches
- demonstrate to various constituencies that its capabilities support the broader U.S. satellite enterprise
- Smartsheet experience or at least willingness to learn quickly
