Job Summary
Project Manager II for Graycor Industrial Constructors’ Metals division overseeing heavy industrial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. Responsibilities include ensuring safety compliance and quality programs on site, participating in bidding and pre-construction, representing Graycor to owners, engineers, subcontractors, and unions, directing project personnel (Project Engineers, Field Superintendents, administrative staff), maintaining budget and schedule to ensure profitability, executing subcontracts and purchase orders, negotiating changes, and mentoring engineers. The role emphasizes leadership, communication with highly technical parties, handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and operating in a self-perform, unionized environment with lump-sum/competitive bid projects. The bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required, and the role requires strong leadership, collaboration, and continuous improvement mindset.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum seven (7) years of relevant heavy industrial construction operations experience within the steel and metal producing industries
- Bachelor degree is preferred but not required
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire commitment, monitor performance, coach and develop people
- Effective communication skills to motivate teams and present proposals to clients
- Ability to juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with self-perform projects in a unionized labor environment
- Familiar with lump sum, competitive bid environment
