Project Manager II - East - Transmission & Substation

Job Summary

Manage transmission (69kV–500kV) and substation construction projects from award through final turnover, overseeing pre-construction planning, scheduling, procurement, execution, commissioning, and closeout. Partner with Superintendents and field teams to ensure safe, efficient construction while championing OSHA compliance and environmental regulations. Develop project budgets, monitor labor and subcontractor costs, and proactively resolve schedule conflicts using Primavera P6 or similar tools. Act as the primary client liaison for inspectors and stakeholders, leading meetings, negotiating change orders, and maintaining accurate documentation in project management systems. Requires 5–8+ years in utility-scale infrastructure, PMP certification within 60 days, and relocation to the Kansas City metro area. Based in or willing to relocate to the East region.

Required Qualifications

  • 5–8+ years of experience in transmission and/or substation construction
  • Proven experience managing utility-scale infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of high-voltage construction methods, sequencing, and safety requirements
  • Experience managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and cross-functional project teams
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, contracts, and technical specifications
  • Demonstrated ability to lead field and office teams effectively
  • Strong client-facing communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in construction management and scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, Procore, or similar systems)
  • Strong reporting and project controls capabilities
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to travel to project sites within surrounding regions as required
  • Must be based in or willing to relocate to the metro area
  • PMP certification required within 60 days of hire

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
