Job Summary
Lead and manage geotechnical engineering projects from inception through completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and meeting client expectations. Oversee design and analysis of foundation design, slope stability, soil mechanics, and groundwater management while supervising junior engineers and technicians. Establish relationships with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to provide technical advice and strategic direction. Prepare investigation reports, feasibility studies, and technical specifications, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Develop project budgets, track costs, and monitor schedules, proactively addressing issues impacting project delivery. Assist in identifying new business opportunities and preparing proposals to grow the geotechnical division.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey
- At least 8 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed (including occasional overnight stays)
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline
- Additional certifications such as Geo-technical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or related
- Experience with geotechnical site investigations, foundation design, soil-structure interaction, and remedial solutions
- Prior experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and interacting with clients
- Strong technical expertise in geotechnical engineering, including software tools for analysis
- Proficient in project management software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
