Project Manager – Furniture

Job Summary
Independently manage furniture projects from planning through final installation, overseeing scopes of work, procurement packages, and vendor selection for commercial workplace projects up to 50,000 rentable square feet. Coordinate activities between project managers, architects, dealers, and construction teams while tracking budgets, schedules, and installation timelines. Serve as the primary client contact for updates and manage relocation planning and move communications. Review Bills of Materials and design deliverables for accuracy, identify risks, and ensure compliance with client standards and company procedures. This 6–9 month contract provides maternity leave coverage with potential transition to full-time, requiring residence in Austin, Dallas, or Houston. Hybrid work includes 2–3 days at a local office with occasional site travel and after-hours work during installations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in one of the following: Project Management, Construction Management, Interior Design, Communications, or a related field
- 3–5 years of experience in furniture project management or a related role
- Experience working within: Corporate real estate, Furniture dealerships, Architecture & Design (A&D) firms, Owner's representative environments
- Strong understanding of commercial furniture specifications and technical coordination
- Experience developing furniture Scopes of Work and procurement packages
- Familiarity with furniture procurement, order management, and installation coordination
- Ability to review architectural drawings, furniture layouts, and Bills of Materials (BOM)
- Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills
- Excellent communication and client relationship management abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and budget expectations
- Candidates must reside in Austin, Dallas, or Houston, Texas
- Hybrid work environment with: 2–3 days per week at a local office
- Travel to client sites as project needs require
- Occasional early morning or after-hours work may be required during furniture installations
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience working as a Furniture Project Manager, Furniture Dealer Project Manager, or Owner's Representative
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- NCIDQ certification
- Experience using CAD, CET, or other furniture design software
- Understanding of commercial construction processes and workplace renovations
- Experience supporting corporate office relocations, workplace transformations, or occupancy projects
- While design experience is beneficial
