Job Summary
Project Manager for electrical construction responsible for leading all phases of assigned electrical construction projects from inception to closeout. Oversees field personnel, manages resources, maintains project budgets and schedules, oversees subcontractors and equipment suppliers, and ensures documentation (permits, submittals, RFIs, change orders) and communications with owners, contractors, and design professionals. Maintains compliance with building codes and safety policies, conducts meetings and site walkthroughs, performs electrical takeoffs, and escalates critical issues to the Branch Manager. The role requires 5+ years of relevant experience, a degree in Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent experience), and strong financial acumen with knowledge of billing, cash flow, and WIP reporting. Must possess or be proficient with tools such as ACCUBID, Viewpoint, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office. This position is based in Bakersfield, CA with 10–20% travel to local job sites; relocation assistance will be considered for highly qualified candidates. The client offers full-time employment with a salary range of $110,000–$145,000, along with comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of experience working for an electrical contractor managing Commercial or Industrial construction projects as a Project Manager or Estimator
- Degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or demonstrated equivalent experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical installation, contract documents, project estimates, and construction specifications
- Understanding of union contract requirements and labor relations
- Proficiency in project financial management including billing, cash flow projections, and WIP reporting
- NFPA 70E, OSHA, and/or MSHA training preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Advanced working knowledge of ACCUBID or similar estimating software
- Working knowledge of Viewpoint or comparable accounting/project management software
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and other electrical or construction technical programs
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities
- High standards of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail
- Self-motivated and effective working independently in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to manage, supervise, and develop personnel
- Ability to build productive working relationships across all levels of an organization
- Travel: 10–20% to local job sites
