Job Summary
Lead design development for large-scale transportation infrastructure projects in a design-build environment, serving as the primary liaison between internal teams, contractors, and clients. Manage design schedules, deliverables, and quality control processes while overseeing multi-disciplinary teams including roadway, structures, drainage, traffic, utilities, and environmental specialists. Participate in proposal development, monitor budgets and change management, and ensure compliance with agency standards and DOT permitting requirements. Mentor junior staff to foster a collaborative, solutions-oriented culture. Requires a PE license, 10+ years in transportation engineering, and 4+ years in design management. Located in Indiana, Ohio, Florida, or Texas.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 10+ years of experience in transportation engineering
- at least 4 years in a design management or lead design role
- Proven experience managing design for design-build or alternative delivery projects
- Strong understanding of DOT standards and permitting processes
- Excellent project management, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
