Job Summary
This Project Manager role supports the Engineering Department by assisting the City Engineer and Engineering Services Manager with operations, capital improvement projects, plan reviews and design services, and coordination with local, state, and federal agencies. Responsibilities include directing day-to-day department operations; guiding staff; overseeing bid/award processes; managing contractors to ensure compliance with plans and specifications; reviewing permits/plans; preparing and delivering presentations; assisting with budgets and education/outreach; and ensuring adherence to codes and standards for city roadway, water, sewer, and stormwater projects. Requires knowledge of modern infrastructure project management, public works practices, GIS, contract management, and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Three-to-five years of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field are typical qualifications; Georgia driver’s license is required. Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
Required Qualifications
- Three to five years of related experience in construction, surveying, or engineering practice
- Knowledge of GIS principles
- Knowledge of contract management principles
- Knowledge of federal and state laws, city ordinances, and department policies
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred but not required
