Job Summary
Lead geotechnical construction projects from mobilization through closeout, owning the schedule, budget, subs, and final results. Track financials, forecast costs, and manage change orders to protect margins while coordinating directly with superintendents and crews to maintain production. Serve as the primary point of contact for owners and engineers, handling RFIs, submittals, and design calculations with technical credibility. Enforce safety standards on-site and manage subcontractor accountability for scope, schedule, and quality. Handle progress billing, retention, and closeout documentation to ensure clean project delivery. Based in San Diego with travel across Southern California required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 5+ years of project management experience in geotechnical or heavy civil construction
- Working knowledge of deep foundation and earth retention methods — drilled shafts, driven piles, micropiles, anchors, soil nails, shotcrete, dewatering, grouting
- Proven ability to manage project budgets from six figures to multi-million dollar scopes
- Strong field presence — credible with superintendents, crews, owners, and engineers
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and scheduling tools
- Willingness to travel to project sites within Southern California
- Valid driver's license
Desired Qualifications
- PE, EIT, or PMP certification
- Experience on prevailing wage / Davis-Bacon projects
- Familiarity with design-build or EPC delivery
