Job Summary
Project Manager (PM) responsible for the overall delivery of architectural and engineering projects from initiation through closeout. Leads client relationships and oversees scope, budget, and schedule to ensure alignment with client expectations. Drives project performance, maintains financial accountability, and partners with the Project Architect to balance technical execution with cost and schedule outcomes. Manages client communications, contract compliance (scope, fee negotiation, change events), consultant coordination, and negotiation of construction change orders. Oversees fee management, invoicing, and budget reconciliation; develops lifecycle cost plans during pre-design. Maintains baseline schedules, manages scope creep, and leads bidding and construction administration, including bid review and alternates validation. Leads client communications during construction and manages projects through closeout, including final invoicing. Supports the Project Architect in QA/QC milestone planning, code review, constructability reviews, and regulatory submissions; participates in design-direction decisions affecting budget or schedule. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 8+ years of experience in architectural or engineering project management, with strong knowledge of A/E delivery methods, contract structures, project accounting software (Deltek, BQE Core), scheduling software (Microsoft Project), and public-sector procurement practices (Wicks Law, NYSED submissions, OGS requirements). Excellent verbal and written communication skills, financial management capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field required
- Active board licensure (PE, RA) or PMP certification preferred
- 8+ years of relevant experience in architectural or engineering project management is preferred
- Experience managing public-sector projects (K-12, higher education, municipal) strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience managing project budgets of $1M or more preferred
