Job Summary
Champion and influence Atkinson's Safety Culture by walking the project with foremen and crew members to ensure accountability, making on-the-spot adjustments regardless of time or cost impacts, and addressing significant safety issues without delay. Create a project plan outlining tasks, timelines, and resources while guiding communication among stakeholders, managing risk, and monitoring progress against the schedule and budget. Ensure accurate estimated costs to complete and future forecasting, take responsibility for client relations, and contribute to winning new work through estimating, proposal, and presentation efforts. Communicate clearly, follow up, provide support, and hold the team accountable for deadlines while practicing win-win negotiation. This active, hands-on role requires navigating complex construction sites with uneven terrain, lifting materials up to 50 pounds, and working in all weather conditions. Success demands flexibility to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, to address critical project phases and time-sensitive matters.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 8-10 years of engineering and general contracting experience on $30M to $250M+ complex, self-perform, heavy-civil construction projects
- Undergraduate degree in engineering, construction management, or related discipline; or similar field or equivalent work experience
- High degree of initiative, independence, personal responsibility, and integrity
- Willingness to speak up, listen up, ask open-ended questions, and learn from others
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment

- Ability to communicate effectively
- Visual acuity for reading plans and inspecting work
- Comfortable frequently lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable in elevated or confined work areas with moving mechanical equipment
- Comfortable in all kinds of weather and moderate to loud noise levels
- Follow Atkinson Construction's safety policies and procedures, and all applicable laws, at all locations

Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with state and local compliance and regulatory requirements
- Knowing insurance products and coverages for Atkinson, subcontractors, and vendors as well as the status of subcontractors' and vendors' insurance
