Job Summary
Analyze drawings and specifications to estimate construction projects ranging from $10m to $20m, creating bid lists and directing subcontractor invitations. Manage quantity surveys, bid tabulation, and estimate assembly while writing and reviewing vendor contracts with precise inclusions and exclusions. Oversee the RFI Log, submittal logs, and expediting logs to ensure timely material delivery and design team coordination. Implement QA/QC programs, Lean Operating Systems, and pull scheduling to meet project deadlines. Work on-site at a main office or project location, requiring a valid driver's license and availability for after-hours calls during emergencies.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of total construction experience
- Minimum of 2 years as an estimator
- Intermediate understanding of construction means, methods, materials, and building codes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
- Current driver's license
- Work on-site at a main office or project location
- Must be physically fit enough to function safely on a project site and office setting
- Must have good depth perception, field of vision, near acuity
- Must be able to ascend or descend ladders, scaffolding, and steep slopes with agility
- Must be able to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling from precarious situations
- Must be able to lower the body to floor level and move with agility
- Must be able to extend out and retrieve objects outside immediate range
- Must be able to support oneself and stay in an upright position
- Must be able to press against something with substantial and steady force
- Must be able to exert a considerable force to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects
- Must be able to raise substantial objects from a lower to a higher position or move objects horizontally
- Must be able to maneuver small objects precisely
- Must be able to seize an object by applying considerable force
- Must be able to detect attributes of objects by tactile means
- Must be able to express or exchange ideas through spoken word, preferably English
- Must be able to perceive the nature of sound with no less than a 40db loss @ 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz, and 2,000 Hz
- Must be able to frequently be exposed to weather including extreme cold, extreme heat, wet, humid, dust, and fumes
- Must be able to withstand substantial repetitive motions of the body
- Must be available to be called after hours and on weekends to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite
- Must be willing to require travel
