Job Summary
Project Estimator to translate customer requests, blueprints, and ideas into accurate, competitive cost estimates for materials, labor, and outside services. Collaborate across engineering, shop floor, and finance to ensure estimates are manufacturable, realistic, and aligned with profitability goals. Interpret customer drawings, 3D models, and technical specifications to determine scope and feasibility. Build estimates for labor time, material usage, scrap rates, and machine time; translate quotes into preliminary BOMs and production routings; contact suppliers and outside processing vendors for pricing and lead times; support sales by explaining pricing breakdowns and cost-saving alternatives; perform post-project reviews to improve estimating accuracy.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizen
- High School Diploma and at least 3 years in manufacturing estimating, production planning, or a closely related technical role (post-secondary education or relevant training is plus)
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and manufacturing specifications
- Demonstrated understanding of the variables related to manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, machine time, scrap rates, vendor management, etc.
