Job Summary
Entry-level Project Engineering Technician supports the construction quality assurance (CQA) program for earthwork and civil construction projects across the Southeast. This role focuses on field testing, construction observation, and detailed documentation under the supervision of senior staff. Responsibilities include performing in-place soil moisture and density testing using the drive cylinder method, conducting undisturbed Shelby tube sampling, supporting geosynthetics deployment observation, monitoring earthwork activities, and producing accurate daily field reports with test data and construction observations. The position requires travel full-time to project sites throughout the Southeast, strong communication with project engineers and field leads, adherence to safety and QA protocols, and the ability to operate outdoors in varying terrain. Education and certifications are required within specified timelines, and a high level of professionalism and client interaction is expected.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate's degree in a related field preferred
- 0-3 years of experience in CQA, soil testing, construction inspection, or related work
- Must demonstrate proficiency in drive cylinder moisture and density testing and undisturbed Shelby tube sampling within 3 months of hire
- Must pass the ICC Special Inspector General Requirements certification within 3 months of hire
- Must pass the ICC Soils Codes and Soils Plans certifications within 12 months of hire
- Ability to travel extensively (50-90%) within the United States
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work outside in the elements and on varying terrain for extended periods of time
