Job Summary
Develop hydrologic and hydraulic models for storm drain, watershed, floodplain, pump station, and flood control projects using advanced tools like HEC-RAS, InfoWorks ICM, and ArcGIS Pro. Build, calibrate, and validate engineering models with historical rainfall, flow monitoring, and field data to perform flood risk, drainage capacity, and infrastructure deficiency analyses. Evaluate alternatives, develop Capital Improvement Program recommendations, and manage GIS databases to support drainage master plans, FEMA studies, and climate resilience assessments. Conduct field investigations, coordinate with clients and agencies, and prepare technical memoranda, engineering reports, exhibits, and client presentations. Assist with pump station, channel, culvert, detention basin, and storm drain improvement projects while mentoring junior staff. This staffed, hourly, non-exempt position requires a California Professional Engineer with 5+ years of water resources experience.
Required Qualifications
- California Professional Engineer (PE)
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in water resources engineering
- Passion for hydrologic and hydraulic modeling

- Passion for development of resilient infrastructure
- Experience with HEC-RAS
- Experience with HEC-HMS
- Experience with InfoWorks ICM
- Experience with XP-SWMM
- Experience with TUFLOW

- Expertise in 1D/2D hydraulic modeling
- Expertise in model calibration
- Expertise in floodplain mapping
- Expertise in FEMA studies
- Expertise in pump station analysis
- Expertise in drainage master planning
- Skill in ArcGIS Pro
- Skill in geospatial data management
- Ability to effectively present complex engineering and modeling results
- Experience mentoring junior staff
