Project Engineer

Job Summary
The project engineer role is to manage the planning, design and permitting of civil engineering projects including highways, subdivisions, and land development. Responsibilities include performing site analyses to determine density and layout constraints, preparing horizontal and vertical street alignments and grading plans, designing stormwater management, water supply and sewage facilities, erosion and sediment control/NPDES plans, coordinating utility design and sub-consultants, and traveling to field/ Township/Client meetings. Requires strong knowledge of stormwater, erosion/sediment control, water/sewer design principles, ability to read municipal land use ordinances, and proficient communication written and verbal. Proficiency with AutoCAD (2017+), AutoCAD Civil 3D (2017+), Hydraflow, and MS Office is needed, along with a valid driver’s license and ability to meet physical requirements. The role emphasizes safety compliance, team coordination with project managers and officials, and supporting design documentation and narratives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university OR one year of related experience and/or training
- Ability to read blueprints and job-related documents
- Strong knowledge of stormwater, erosion, and sediment control
- Strong knowledge of water and sewer design principles
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to interpret and apply municipal land use ordinances
- Basic computer skills including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Experience with specific programs including AutoCAD 2017 (or later version)
- AutoCAD Civil 3D 2017 (or more recent version)
- Hydraflow
- Driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
- Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit
