Job Summary
Design-focused Project Engineer responsible for mechanical design of piping and pressure vessels on assigned projects. Performs calculations and prepares drawings, BOMs, and specifications in accordance with ASME B31.3/31.4/31.8, CSA Z662, and ASME BPV Section VIII. Interfaces with the Project Manager, Sales during inquiries, and customers to ensure technical requirements are met. Generates and transmits drawings, calculations, quality plans, weld procedures, and other technical documents; contributes to engineering standards, process improvements, and updating in-house programs. Requires collaboration across shop, field, and engineering teams with strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field required
- Three or more years of design engineering experience in a related piping or pressure vessel manufacturing setting strongly preferred
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Strong computer design capabilities (AutoCad)
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to review customer specifications and develop BOMs and drawings
- Experience producing mechanical and structural calculations per ASME/codes
- Ability to convey project requirements through drawings, calculations, and specifications
