Job Summary
Structural Steel Engineer position at Tutor Perini Civil-East in New Rochelle, NY. Responsible for assisting in project management from inception to completion to meet safety, quality, profitability, and schedule goals; supports coordination activities, maintains project schedules, and prepares RFIs, work plans, and submittals; tracks quantities and costs, assists with CPM schedule development, and maintains as-built drawings. Requires a B.S. in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent) and a minimum of 8 years’ experience in structural steel erection or related heavy civil/steel construction, with demonstrated ability to interface with fabricators, subcontractors, owners, and design/construction engineers. Proficiency with MS Office and strong written/verbal communication skills. Salary range for this position is $125,000 to $175,000 depending on experience.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent from accredited institution
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in structural steel erection, heavy civil construction, bridge, vertical construction, or other steel structures
- Experience actively interfacing with fabricators, subcontractors, & owners to resolve design issues, procurement issues, and constructability issues
- Coordination of contract drawings, design drawings, and shop drawings to facilitate an erectable final structure
- Experience actively interface with design engineers & construction engineers to develop thorough "means & methods" process
- Accurately realize "to-date" costs and project "final" costs thru completion
- Proficiency with MS Office products (Word/Excel)
- Excellent written and verbal skills
