Job Summary
Structural Steel Engineer role responsible for managing projects from inception to completion with focus on safety, quality, profitability, and schedule. Key duties include participating in safety programs, assisting Project Managers and Superintendents, identifying productivity/quality improvements, communicating with Owners/Designers/Engineers about schedules, developing RFIs, work plans, and submittals, tracking quantities and costs, preparing time and material pricing submittals, assisting with CPM scheduling, maintaining as-built drawings with field input, and interfacing with fabricators, subcontractors, and owners to resolve design, procurement, and constructability issues.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in structural steel erection, heavy civil construction, bridge construction, vertical construction, or other steel structures
- Experience interfacing with fabricators, subcontractors, and owners to resolve design, procurement, and constructability issues
- Proficient in coordinating contract drawings, design drawings, and shop drawings to facilitate the erection of structures
- Experience collaborating with design and construction engineers to develop effective "means and methods" processes
- Ability to accurately assess "to-date" costs and project final costs through completion
