Job Summary
Project Engineer responsible for identifying opportunities to improve plant equipment and facilities, planning, organizing, executing, and closing moderate-to-large capital projects with cradle-to-grave ownership. Develop project objectives and specifications by reviewing proposals, perform cost estimates, and provide engineering solutions. Manage procurement, installation, startup, and commissioning; monitor schedules, control costs, and administer contractor contracts. Create equipment procedures and documentation (URS, FRS, drawings like P&ID), maintain records, conduct life cycle assessments, and support training across the organization. Travel to remote facilities within a 10-mile radius of the main campus and, for equipment suppliers, internationally <5% of the time. Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, Excel, and related project management tools; strong mechanical/electrical knowledge; effective communication and problem-solving skills. Preferred: BS Mechanical/Electrical, Six Sigma, PMP, CFR Part 211 cGMP familiarity, PLC/robotic systems knowledge.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
- 4 years’ professional experience in engineering in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in engineering project management from design, procurement, and installation
- Knowledge of EPA and OSHA rules and regulations
- Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge and aptitude
- Demonstrated project management skills and methods understanding
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or other modeling software, and Microsoft Office including advanced Excel skills and Microsoft Project (or other project planning and scheduling (Gantt) software)
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced team-oriented manufacturing environment
- Ability to apply critical thinking in problem solving
- Strong communication, organization, and prioritization skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports and procedure manuals
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as stated
