Project Engineer - Public Works

Job Summary
Lead technical design and engineering execution on public works projects, taking full ownership of deliverables from concept through final design. Produce complete engineering designs including plans, specifications, reports, and estimates while evaluating alternatives to balance quality, cost, and schedule. Coordinate technical work with project managers, subconsultants, and external stakeholders, and mentor junior staff on professional development. Review work prepared by engineers and technicians to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Prepare traffic studies and roadway design efforts, including intersection geometry, signing, pavement markings, and wastewater collection systems. Work Monday through Friday with occasional overtime as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive engineering experience
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, design standards, and regulatory requirements
- Proficiency with applicable engineering design and analysis software
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lead technical work, mentor others, and coordinate across disciplines
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Reliability, professionalism, and commitment to quality project delivery
- Availability to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional overtime as needed
