Job Summary
Manage special inspectors, technicians, and laboratory staff while overseeing geotechnical budgets for bridges, roadways, and commercial projects. Plan, assign, and evaluate work for consistency and conformance to guidelines, then prepare and submit inspection reports to agencies and clients. Interpret policies for special inspection and testing, maintain records, and oversee materials testing for soils, asphalt, and concrete. Communicate with Principals to track billings versus budget and ensure all IBC Special Inspections meet Chapter 17 requirements. Requires a BS in civil engineering with 2+ years of experience, a good driving record, and willingness to travel.
Required Qualifications
- EIT or ability to obtain EIT within 6 months
- BS in civil engineering with emphasis in materials/geotechnical
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- Good driving record
- willing to travel
- knowledge of building codes and construction industry standards
- Experience with AASHTO and ASTM test methods pertaining to construction materials, including HMA, aggregate, soils, steel, masonry, and concrete
- Experience reviewing concrete/asphalt mix designs
- Thorough understanding of accreditation policies for all relevant agencies, including AMRL, CCRL, IAS, etc.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- CA EIT is preferred
- BS in civil engineering with emphasis in materials/geotechnical, a plus
