Job Summary
Project Engineer for Life Safety and Security at Intertek in Arlington Heights, IL, responsible for testing and evaluating Life Safety and Security products to determine compliance with US, Canadian, and other international product safety standards; writing reports and test plans; communicating with clients; conducting and witnessing testing; resolving technical and administrative issues; and providing expert knowledge across product categories with up to 25% travel. Will read applicable codes, interpret schematics, set up/test equipment, perform core tests, mentor junior staff, provide quotes and client support, and contribute to field labeling and testing projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- 2+ years relatable experience
- Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record
- Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines
- Must be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload
- Must possess the fundamental technical and administrative skills required to perform the job duties
- Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently within established parameters
- Excellent communication skills, in both verbal and written formats
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
- Must be customer focused and quality driven
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to travel as business needs dictate up to 25%
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
- Prior project management experience
- Demonstrated experience with U.S., Canadian, and other international product safety standards, i.e., ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC, IEEE
