Job Summary
Lead and facilitate all phases of space suit design projects, including research, design, procurement, assembly, integration, testing, and operations. Develop, track, and manage project forecasts, scope, risks, and schedules while establishing criteria for proper implementation of project elements. Execute and manage procurement activities involving negotiation of requirements, design specifications, proposals, quotes, contracts, change orders, and invoices with general contractors, designers, vendors, and legal processes. Provide oversight and guidance to internal teams and external partners to ensure compliance with project scope, budget, and schedule. Review plans, inspect fabrications, and conduct investigations to assure adherence to regulations and procedures. Track changing orders and monitor ongoing development projects while identifying and communicating related risks. Requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, 5-10 years of experience, MS Project proficiency, and U.S. citizenship. Onsite at customer facility.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship
- Bachelor's degree in the field of Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 5-10 years of recent and related work experience
- Expert use of MS Project
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and produce timely results
- Self-motivated
- Must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
- Must be able to follow safety and quality policies
- Must be able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives
- Must be organized, with good time management skills
Desired Qualifications
- Project management experience in aerospace and mechanical experience to include hardware development and design verification
- Experience with NASA in spacecraft design and human system integration
