Job Summary
Assist the project superintendent with construction planning, scheduling, cost control, procurement, and safety tasks on heavy civil projects including highways, airports, and mining developments. Prepare project submittals per specifications, coordinate subcontractor inputs, and track quantities to develop pay estimates, cash forecasts, and construction margins. Promote safe work practices adhering to Colaska's policies and goal zero principles while developing direct reports such as interns. Travel to remote sites in Southeast Alaska communities as required, with the ability to work Saturdays, Sundays, and up to 60 weekly hours during the busy season.
Required Qualifications
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to multitask
- Computer software knowledge of Primavera P6, MS Office, JDE, HCSS Heavy Job
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret plans, specifications, external and internal policies/guidelines/regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and effectively present information to large groups and interact with managers, clients, customers, and the public
- Minimum 2 years of progressively proven ability in the construction industry
- Driver's License
- Must be able to pass drug screening and a PAT (physical abilities test)
- Exert force of 20-50 pounds occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, or 10 pounds constantly
- Must be able to work Saturdays and Sundays
- Typical weekly work hours during busy season can meet or exceed 60 hours
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or related preferred
- Experience with Alaska Department of Transportation or Western Federal Lands preferred
- preferred abilities in Trimble Business Center and HCSS Heavy Bid
- CPR/First aid certification preferred
- MSHA certification
- OSHA 10-hour certification
