Job Summary
Mortenson is seeking a Project Engineer to oversee the review, analysis, management, and resolution of field coordination issues with project team members and participants. The role offers opportunities at both level 1 and level 2, with compensation determined by experience and location. Responsibilities include interpreting project plans and specifications for subcontractors, implementing a pre-construction quality plan and permitting, managing material tracking lists and testing/inspection logs, handling contract documents (RFIs and correspondence), overseeing testing and inspection processes with a three-phase system, coordinating submittals and timely processing aligned with the project schedule, verifying subcontractor details including insurance, generating RFIs and Change Orders, updating as-built documents, building cross-functional relationships, and providing coaching and leadership to team members.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience
- Current driver’s license
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple project tasks
- Basic understanding of construction law and business practices
- Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project, and relevant web applications
- Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
- Active listening and effective communication skills, open to diverse input and feedback
- Project Engineer 1: Two years of related experience
- Project Engineer 2: Three years of related experience
