Job Summary
Project Engineer responsible for leading injection molding projects from concept through production, coordinating with design engineers on product specifications, prototypes, automation and tooling designs, and overseeing feasibility studies, cost analyses, setup, testing, and validation of molding processes. Will optimize process parameters, drive continuous improvement and Lean initiatives, manage cross-functional collaboration (production, QA, supply chain), evaluate materials, analyze production data, prepare detailed project reports, and stay current with industry trends in injection molding and project management. Requires strong CAD skills (SolidWorks), MoldFlow or molding-simulation knowledge, and hands-on experience with robotics/automation in molding; ability to manage multiple programs and maintain 5S in manufacturing.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related field
- Strong understanding of injection molding materials, tooling, process parameters, and machinery
- Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks) and injection molding simulation tools
- Strong understanding of injection molding processes, tooling design, and materials science
- Solid analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Experience with multi-cavity molds, robotics, and automation in injection molding
- Familiarity with CAD software and molding simulation tools
- Hands-on experience with troubleshooting mold issues and optimizing cycle times
- Ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Knowledge of MoldFlow analysis and scientific molding principles
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
