Job Summary
Project Engineer responsible for preparing and overseeing roadway design plans, specifications, and cost estimates; perform geometric design, grading, drainage coordination, and maintenance of traffic plans; coordinate with civil/site, traffic, structural, environmental, and utility teams; assist in managing project schedules, budgets, and deliverables; serve as a technical resource for junior engineers and designers; attend client meetings and coordinate with public agencies including state agencies, counties, and municipalities; ensure compliance with state and federal design standards and procedures; support proposal preparation and business development efforts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- 4–8 years of progressive highway/roadway design experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Experience working on county and/or municipal projects, including those that are state or federally funded
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation (OpenRoads experience a plus)
- Strong knowledge of AASHTO and NJDOT roadway design standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
